JAKIMAS - What is Art?
What is Art? Art is a way mankind has developed, throughout the millennia, to give compass to the soul. To reach that inner part of our being that strives
to know the truth and the essence of who WE are. The question of today is, has art lost its compass? I believe the direction of art has become confused in many ways. Has the shock of the NEW replaced the TRUE? Why? Because, "commodity" feeds the insecurity of the ego and with "commodity" there is no place for the Divine. Has the art of today lost the its compass to the Divine and become more clinical? Art should elate the soul with truth not depress it. Van Gogh once said, and I am paraphrasing, there can be no great art without some aspect of the Divine. This is perhaps the most important statement made by Van Gogh, in my opinion. (I refer to the Divine in a spiritual sense not a religious one). Do you feel any aspect of the Divine in today's art, at the top of the art world? Art, to be valid, to reach that pure intuitive state of consciousness for compass, must always transcend the insecurities of ego, there is no other way. Void of the Divine there is only ego and the ego cannot compass an evolutionary path alone! Today, sadly, we sail adrift with "commodity" taking the rein of our future!
